About the position

The Project Manager 2, Construction at the University of Miami is responsible for overseeing and directing the construction management of assigned projects. This role serves as a liaison between the institution and outside contractors and designers, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. The position involves managing all aspects of project management, including planning, scheduling, and compliance with university standards.

Responsibilities

• Generate project status reports and ensure adherence to contract specifications.
• Provide construction budgets for analysis and periodic budget updates.
• Formulate schedules for each phase of construction and input into the master project schedule.
• Work with staff engineers to formalize construction documents.
• Facilitate the bidding process, receive qualified bids, and prepare bid summary analysis.
• Prepare contract documentation acceptable to lenders.
• Inspect projects periodically to ensure compliance and schedule status meetings.
• Review and approve consultant invoices from architects, engineers, and special inspectors.
• Establish and assess the effectiveness of internal controls and compliance with university policies.
• Train employees on controls and university policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of business and management principles.
• Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
• Ability to establish department goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
• Ability to effectively plan, delegate, and supervise the work of others.
• Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
