About the position

The position at CoolSys involves leading, training, and mentoring the EMS project crew to ensure efficient and timely completion of HVAC and refrigeration projects. The role requires effective communication with tradespeople, project management, and a strong focus on safety and productivity within the team. The candidate will also be responsible for programming controllers, installing equipment, and maintaining project schedules and budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and foster teamwork within the EMS project crew, monitoring project progress and directing the crew toward optimal productivity and safety.
  • Provide support on EMS jobs by programming controllers, installing conduit, running cable, and wiring refrigeration equipment, HVAC, RTUs, and lighting.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and on budget, communicating any schedule or budget changes with the Project Manager.
  • Perform other related duties assigned by account management, including parts and material ordering and procurement.
  • Maintain daily/weekly communication with account managers, facility managers, superintendents, and engineering staff.
  • Travel to projects across the US, arrange travel accommodations, and submit accurate expense reports.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of high voltage electrical power systems (115V, 208V, 460V, single and 3 phase systems).
  • Knowledge of low voltage control circuits, network architecture, and Ethernet.
  • Operational knowledge of EMS boards, modules, and sensors.
  • Ability to read and understand power and control circuit diagrams.
  • Knowledge of commercial HVAC, exhaust and ventilation systems, construction, and installation.
  • Knowledge of supermarket refrigeration systems, control valves and circuits, variable frequency drives (VFD's), refrigerant pressures, and hazards.
  • Understanding of refrigerated product integrity and risk of product loss liabilities.
  • Skill in computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to navigate laptop computers for accessing on-site controllers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with analytical problem solving in a construction or related industry.
  • Certification from trade or technical school.
