About the position

The Project Manager, Applications Engineering at Okuma America Corporation is responsible for managing projects that support highly engineered machines, ensuring alignment with the corporate business model. This role involves organizing business needs into detailed engineering project plans, leading project teams, and controlling project progress to achieve objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Define and clarify project scope
  • Develop the project plan
  • Develop the project schedule
  • Develop policies and procedures to support project objectives
  • Determine the organizational structure of the project team
  • Identify roles and positions
  • Identify services to be provided by external companies
  • Define staff to support project objectives
  • Set team direction
  • Coordinate activities across different organizational functions
  • Motivate team members
  • Assign work
  • Define project baselines
  • Track project progress
  • Report project status
  • Determine and take corrective actions
  • Engage in advanced product development activities
  • Travel as needed to support project activity/approvals/milestones

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering (preferred)
  • Minimum of 10 years of Machine Tool applications experience
  • Familiarity with components being machined/processed in various industries (Oil/Energy, Aerospace, Construction, Fluids, Medical)
  • Familiarity with modern CNC machines and controls (preferably Okuma)
  • Knowledge of modern cutting tools, manual and hydraulic work holding, robotic systems, automation, and SPC
  • CAD and CAM knowledge
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and design
  • Business management knowledge
  • Project/Program Management training and skillset
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Proven ability to lead large projects using project management tools
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications: CMfgE or CMfgT, Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred but not required
