About the position

WSP is seeking a Project Manager - Assistant Vice President, Civil Engineer to lead regional, multi-year transportation projects in Glastonbury, Connecticut. This role involves overseeing major transportation program management assignments, providing technical support, and ensuring project delivery meets client objectives. The successful candidate will have extensive project management experience and will be responsible for managing multi-discipline teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and mentoring staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the work of large multi-discipline design and/or program management teams.
  • Interface with clients and project stakeholders for coordinated project delivery.
  • Coordinate project teams to deliver within budget and schedule while complying with quality protocols.
  • Accountable for profitable project performance and successful project completion.
  • Assist in business development activities and maintain regular client contact.
  • Participate in technical aspects of contract negotiation and presentations.
  • Drive compliance with applicable engineering/design/construction laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide leadership and strategic advice to clients and project teams.
  • Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development.
  • Collaborate with professionals from various disciplines on funded improvement and development projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural, or related engineering discipline or Construction Management.
  • 10+ years of relevant post-education experience in engineering and civil design, project management/construction engineering.
  • Connecticut Professional Engineer license or ability to acquire within 6 months.
  • Experience managing tasks on large, multi-discipline design and/or program management teams.
  • Experience with transportation or transit projects.
  • Experience with project budgeting, scheduling, and state and federal permitting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience working on CTDOT Highway/Bridge/Transit design projects.
  • Experience working on Amtrak and/or Metro North Railroad projects.
  • Design Build experience.
