About the position

The Project Manager for BWH Rheumatology will oversee multiple research projects, including a NIH-sponsored patient-recruitment study and aspects of the BWH VERITY Bioinformatics Core. This role involves project administration, planning, and implementing study protocols, while working closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and supervising staff. The Project Manager will coordinate study-related activities, manage internal review board protocols, and ensure effective communication among team members.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the project manager for a clinical research and applied bioinformatics lab.
  • Work closely with the PI, clinical research coordinators, junior faculty members, trainees, post docs, and collaborators.
  • Create and coordinate clinical trials and observational studies, including planning, regulatory approval, and implementation.
  • Supervise staff with recruitment, study visits, and participant communications.
  • Provide insight on project development and strategy.
  • Oversee, orient, train, and coach staff, including research assistants and students.
  • Coordinate staff/faculty schedules for study visits and recruitment.
  • Evaluate staff and assist with annual reviews.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for research studies and IRB protocols.
  • Contribute to writing progress reports and regulatory reports for IRB approval.
  • Assist in manuscript writing by providing study details and current references.
  • Independently research literature and follow up on specific requests from research staff.
  • Develop methods and design studies, including recruitment strategies and data collection protocols.
  • Recommend changes to protocols and enter data according to written protocols.
  • Develop data tracking systems and maintain records on research subjects.
  • Supervise junior staff members and assist faculty new to research.
  • Contact and collect data on subjects, evaluating their eligibility.
  • Conduct surveys and participate in focus group discussions with patients.
  • Draft and implement questionnaires, surveys, and interviews as needed for research projects.
  • Communicate regularly with the PIs and research team about all aspects of the research projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Experience working with Excel, Access, and SAS.
  • Experience working with Epic.
  • Experience with R programming is preferred.
