About the position

The Project Manager 1 at JE Dunn will lead and manage construction projects, ensuring adherence to safety standards, budget, and schedule. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and design teams, to deliver high-quality results while fostering lasting relationships. The position requires strong leadership, decision-making, and project management skills to navigate complex project dynamics effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of the company's safety culture and create awareness by demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment.
  • Manage the JE Dunn prestart process and support the preconstruction team.
  • Lead plan and implementation of buyout schedule, verifying pricing and scope.
  • Manage the submittal schedule set-up and coordinate priorities with the team.
  • Ensure approved submittals are returned to subcontractors and available to the project team.
  • Coordinate with Logistics to obtain pricing on materials and equipment.
  • Confers with risk management to ensure approval and/or bonding requirements for subcontractors.
  • Coordinate various stakeholders of the project including subcontractors, owners, and design teams.
  • Disseminate change requests to subcontractors for pricing and schedule input.
  • Prepare, submit, and obtain owner/architect approval for change requests.
  • Lead various meetings such as monthly project reviews and progress meetings.
  • Complete monthly subcontractor and owner pay application process.
  • Prepare project schedule with the Project Superintendent and manage materials, labor, and procurement logs.
  • Identify potential schedule impacts and facilitate mitigation plans.
  • Provide written documentation for decisions affecting budget, schedule, legal, quality, and safety.
  • Prepare monthly cost and margin forecast and participate in the development of the project budget.
  • Lead overall project closeout process using best practice standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of construction management experience.
  • Proficiency in project management and accounting software (Advanced).
  • Proficiency in required construction technology (Advanced).
  • Proficiency in scheduling software (Advanced).
  • Ability to manage budgets and maximize profitability.

  • Ability to apply Lean process and philosophy (Intermediate).
  • Communication skills, verbal and written (Intermediate).
  • Ability to conduct effective presentations.
