About the position

The Project Manager Construction Engineer will oversee capital projects in a petrochemical environment, managing all phases from engineering through construction and startup. This role involves coordinating contractors, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards while delivering projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Safely executes capital projects from front-end development to detailed design and construction, including procurement, cost control, and schedule management.
  • Coordinates personnel and contractor partners to ensure field activities are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with design requirements.
  • Oversees engineering execution utilizing either on-site or off-site disciplines/engineering companies.
  • Manages simultaneous projects with competing priorities in various phases on a wide variety of manufacturing processes in the chemical complex.
  • Provides assistance in the estimation and scope definition of projects.
  • Prepares periodic reports to include schedule status, budget status, and corrective actions.
  • Interfaces with clients to review and provide solutions for maintenance aspects of design.
  • Assists in managing the subcontracting process from bid issuance through completion.
  • Manages scope changes caused by engineering, client, or process changes to minimize impact on the project.
  • Schedules maintenance tasks in various process areas and coordinates activities around operational activities.
  • Assures compliance with environmental, health and safety (EHS), PSM, local, state, federal, and corporate standards.

Requirements

  • A practical working knowledge of refinery/chemical processes, process equipment, and general project procedures is required.
  • Experience implementing and managing capital appropriation & expenditures.
  • 7+ years' experience in Refinery or Petrochemical Plant Engineering is desired.
  • Project management experience is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, construction management, or technical degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated successful project management experience.
  • Self-motivated with good written and verbal communication skills with a positive team-oriented attitude.
  • Experience with MOC.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, bend, reach, and climb.
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Technical degree preferred, or 15+ years related work experience.
  • MS-Office and knowledge of SAP tasks.
