About the position

The Project Manager for Development Marketing and Communications at the University of Michigan is responsible for overseeing the production of fundraising collateral to support the Michigan Medicine Office of Development. This role involves managing project teams, developing production schedules and budgets, and ensuring high-quality outputs in a fast-paced environment. The Project Manager serves as the primary contact for various stakeholders, ensuring timely and effective communication and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage development communication projects to ensure timeliness and quality standards are met.
  • Lead kickoff meetings for new project requests and define project components.
  • Assemble project teams and manage relationships with freelance designers and vendors.
  • Create production schedules using Microsoft Planner and monitor project progress.
  • Communicate project status to the development communications team and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain systems for production processes, including budgets and timelines.
  • Proofread various communications to ensure editorial standards are met.
  • Provide operational support to the senior director, including calendar management and budget monitoring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • At least two years of professional experience in a related field.
  • Experience managing large-scale communications production, including timelines and budgets.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Outstanding editing and proofreading skills.
  • Knowledge of visual communication aspects, including graphic design and printing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign.

Nice-to-haves

  • Communications experience within a health system or similar organization.
  • Understanding of philanthropy's role in advancing health system goals.
  • General knowledge of fundraising practices.
