About the position

The Project Manager for Development Marketing and Communications at Michigan Medicine is responsible for overseeing the production of fundraising collateral to support the Office of Development. This role requires managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, ensuring high-quality standards, and maintaining effective communication with various stakeholders. The position serves as the chief point of contact for gift officers and fundraising teams, emphasizing collaboration and timely delivery of impactful communication pieces.

Responsibilities

  • Manage development communication projects to ensure timeliness and high-quality standards.
  • Lead kickoff meetings for new project requests and analyze project objectives.
  • Define project components, assemble teams, and manage freelance designers.
  • Create production schedules using Microsoft Planner and monitor project timelines.
  • Evaluate and select printing vendors, managing vendor relationships.
  • Prioritize communications projects in collaboration with the senior director.
  • Communicate project status regularly to the development communications team.
  • Develop and maintain systems for production processes, including budgets and timelines.
  • Facilitate weekly stand-up meetings with the communications team.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • At least two years of professional experience in a related field, preferably in an academic or health development office.
  • Experience managing large-scale communications production, including timelines and budgets.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience managing relationships with freelance writers, designers, and vendors.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills.
  • Knowledge of visual communication aspects, including graphic design and printing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign.
  • Willingness to pursue professional development in design concepts.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
