About the position

The Project Manager for the Office of Enterprise Project Management (ePMO) at the University of Miami will play a crucial role in supporting academic initiatives by partnering with C-level executives to drive strategic business projects. This position focuses on overseeing the planning, implementation, and tracking of various department projects to ensure successful execution, while maintaining a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Define the scope of projects with leadership.
  • Document the project's goals and objectives.
  • Define success criteria and measures for project evaluation.
  • Identify resources required to complete each project.
  • Establish and document comprehensive project plans and timelines.
  • Review project schedules with leadership and affected staff.
  • Monitor project progress and adjust as necessary for successful completion.
  • Consult with leadership on staff selection for projects.
  • Assign project tasks to the project team.
  • Ensure project personnel receive appropriate orientation.
  • Manage project staff according to organizational policies.
  • Review the quality of work completed by the project team.
  • Document all project-related activities and maintain project files.
  • Create a communication schedule to update stakeholders on project progress.
  • Prepare presentations and status reports for leadership.
  • Assess the effectiveness of internal controls and compliance with policies.
  • Train project stakeholders on controls and university policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required.
  • Minimum 3 years of project management experience required (5 years preferred).
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred.
  • Six Sigma and/or LEAN certifications preferred.
  • Knowledge of business, project, and management principles.
  • Superior relationship management and communication skills.
  • Customer-focused mentality.
  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and coach others.
  • Ability to manage complex projects with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Superior research, benchmarking, presentation, and report writing skills.
  • Adept at complex problem-solving and strategic planning.
  • Working knowledge of project management tools (e.g., Smartsheet) and templates.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated project management knowledge including charters, scope development, project plans, risk and issue management, execution, and closing activities.
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to apply project management skills to clinical, research, and academic initiatives.
