Position Summary: Project Manager - Engineering Location: Hamden, CT Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. Our global headquarters is located in Nashua, NH and we have design, sales and manufacturing locations globally. We are currently seeking a Project Manager to join our Engineering team at Amphenol Spectra-Strip in Hamden, CT.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates with internal and external customers, plans projects, implements budget, and completes projects from design to validation to production ramp.
- Manages and provides real-time technical leadership in a complex, dynamic environment.
- Identifies resource requirements and communicates to management with appropriate justification.
- Demonstrates strong decision-making skills, considering all relevant factors and potential consequences.
- Takes ownership of assigned tasks and projects, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues across time zones in a rapidly changing environment.
- Identifies and overcomes obstacles, such as key constraints and critical path items and proactively plans creative and effective mitigation.
- Develops standard workflows and expectations for cross functional activities to ensure crisp execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from a four-year university with 4+ years related experience and/or training within the connector industry, preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in leading and implementing large scale, capital, highly visible projects.
- Project engineering management mindset / experience a plus.
- High-energy, self-motivated, and team oriented.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical product drawings and procedures.
- Ability to effectively write detailed technical reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to various internal and external stakeholders.
- Should have knowledge and skills using Project Management and Office productivity software.
- Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision and proactively identify, review, discuss, and resolve problems.
- Working understanding of engineering tools such as DFM, Root Cause Analysis, etc.
Nice-to-haves
- Project Management Institute PMP or CAPM Certification.
- Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP/MRP systems.
- Experience working within a technical environment.
- Understanding of design, procurement, and/or manufacturing processes.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Sense of ownership and commitment to meeting customer needs.
- Excellent planning and organization skills with a sense of urgency.
