About the position

The Project Manager for the EPC Team plays a crucial role in overseeing the engineering, estimating, contracting, and execution of utility scale solar and BESS energy projects in California. This position is responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget while managing client relationships and leading project activities from pre-construction through to commercial operation.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a positive safety program and culture on the project site.
  • Develop and implement the Project Execution Plan (PEP) to prevent quality defects and ensure a safe workplace.
  • Manage client relationships throughout the project lifecycle, providing updates and solutions as needed.
  • Lead project planning and ensure adherence to the project schedule, including engineering, permitting, procurement, and construction phases.
  • Conduct effective meetings and review project metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Develop alternative work plans to overcome schedule constraints during the project.
  • Staff the project organizational chart appropriately and ensure adequate resources are provided.
  • Manage all financial aspects of the project, including budget, cash flow, and invoicing processes.
  • Facilitate the transition of estimates from business development to construction teams.
  • Provide monthly project financial forecasts and ensure timely collection of receivables.
  • Lead the change management process with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Administer contract agreements and ensure adherence by the project team.
  • Support the growth and skill development of the project team.
  • Lead the project closeout process, capturing lessons learned and project metrics.
  • Communicate project status and needs to leadership, focusing on safety, quality, schedule, and financials.
  • Coordinate equipment selection and ensure timely delivery of materials to the project site.
  • Troubleshoot issues, evaluate alternatives, and propose solutions to the project team.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of construction-related experience and 3+ years of self-perform construction experience, specifically in utility scale solar projects.
  • LEED AP certification is recommended.
  • Cal OSHA 30-hour Construction training certification is required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Experience with Primavera 6 and Microsoft Project scheduling software.
  • Demonstrated experience in Construction Management and leadership.
