About the position

The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing and executing communications and public relations services for a federal government client. This role requires extensive experience in project management within the federal sector, particularly in managing contracts such as Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPA) or Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contracts. The Project Manager will ensure that all project deliverables are met on time and will represent the agency in high-stakes presentations to government clients.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage government communications and PR projects, ensuring all timelines, budgets, and deliverables are met.
  • Collaborate with internal and external PR teams to develop and execute strategic communication plans.
  • Manage federal government contracts valued at $2-3M over a 5-year period, ideally Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPA) or IDIQ contracts.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for government clients, ensuring smooth communication and coordination between stakeholders.
  • Oversee project deliverables and ensure all reporting and communications are completed to meet government requirements.
  • Participate in high-stakes oral presentations to government agencies as part of the proposal process.
  • Ensure compliance with federal government contracting procedures and guidelines, managing project risks and proactively addressing challenges.
  • Facilitate meetings, both internally and with government stakeholders, ensuring alignment on project goals and deliverables.
  • Monitor project progress, track milestones, and prepare regular status reports for both internal teams and government clients.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of project management experience, specifically within the federal government or related sectors (social sciences, museums, libraries, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience managing federal government contracts valued between $2-3M over 5 years, preferably with BPA or IDIQ contracts.
  • Strong background in public relations and communications, with a focus on government outreach and engagement.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to represent the agency in oral presentations to government clients.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools used in government projects.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, with the ability to navigate complex government contracting environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or a related field; PMP certification is a plus but not required.
