About the position

The Project Manager for a Heavy Civil Contractor is responsible for overseeing all phases of construction projects, including site development, road, bridge, and utility construction. This role requires a strong focus on project management, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently within budget and time constraints while maintaining high standards of quality and dependability.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare a plan detailing steps required for efficiently completing the project within the budget and completion time restraints.
  • Implement plan into a detailed project schedule using Primavera P6 or other scheduling software for submission to Owner and project team.
  • Negotiate price/terms with vendors/subcontractors to obtain the best possible delivery date/schedule while maintaining full compliance with contract documents.
  • Effectively manage project progression, subcontractors, vendors and project team.
  • Review, submit, track RFI's, submittals and construction delays.
  • Monthly quantity billing and reports.
  • Manage change orders by reviewing scope with Owner, providing detailed cost breakdown with associated backup required and negotiations while maximizing probability.
  • Revise/adjust initial schedule and plan to account for unforeseen delays to effectively maintain the overall project completion date satisfactory to the Owner.
  • Provide problem resolution and cost saving solutions to project team and/or Owner.
  • Report cost overruns, safety concerns, construction delays and any general issues that arise to Chief Operating Officer.

Requirements

  • Preferred 4-year degree in an accredited construction related curriculum (BSCE, BSCM, BSAE, etc.) or experience equivalent to a 4-year degree.
  • Minimum of three to eight years' experience as Project Manager II or at least five years construction related experience.
  • Demonstrated mastery in the skills of project management.
  • Must be able to run small and large projects and manage several small projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated mastery in estimating, scheduling, budgeting/cost control, field supervision, financial reporting, client relationship, interpersonal skills, computer skills, safety/insurance, and communication skills.
