About the position

The Project Manager - Forensic Engineer/Architect at American Structurepoint is responsible for conducting forensic investigations and assessments of various structures, including commercial, residential, and municipal projects. This role involves direct client interaction, technical report production, and collaboration with a team of experts in the field. The position emphasizes the importance of communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively while ensuring high-quality deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting and/or managing investigations, assessments, and expert witness assignments to prepare accurate technical reports and repair documents, and occasionally provide expert testimony.
  • Managing multiple assignments concurrently.
  • Delegating to, mentoring, and directing other production staff for maximum productivity and profitability.
  • Managing the billing process for assigned projects.
  • Meeting with existing and prospective clients to coordinate new project opportunities.
  • Preparing proposals, fee justifications, and contracts as needed in conjunction with the Team Leader and/or Group Leader.
  • Providing internal review of documents (reports, drawings, proposals, etc.) for other group members to ensure accurate, understandable, and consistent production of high-quality documents.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or Architecture from an accredited engineering or architecture school; Other degrees will be considered based on relevant experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer, NCARB Registered Architect, or similar industry certification.
  • 5+ years' experience in a related field.
  • Strong team player with effective internal & external verbal and written communication skills.
  • Prior design and/or investigation experience preferred.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in evaluating entire structures from foundations to roofing.
  • Desire to learn about the investigation of failures and building problems.
