About the position

The Project Manager for Human Resources at Fairfax County Public Schools is responsible for planning, managing, and coordinating resources and activities that support the facilitation, implementation, and successful completion of assigned projects. This role is crucial in upholding department-based initiatives that align with the mission, vision, and strategic plan of the organization. The Project Manager will exercise leadership in documenting logistics requirements, establishing timeline parameters, providing project status updates, and tracking milestone achievements. Additionally, the position supports project strategy through technical business analysis, design functionality, stakeholder collaboration, communication plans, and change management. The Project Manager will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure that projects are executed efficiently and effectively. This includes managing project resources, which may encompass fiscal, physical, and capital resources. The role requires a strong ability to motivate, inspire, and mentor team members, ensuring that all project activities are organized, prioritized, and aligned with the overall goals of the department. The Project Manager will also be tasked with applying creative solutions to complex problems and developing innovative ideas and concepts that contribute to a client-driven organization. Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and coordinate resources and activities for assigned projects.
  • Document logistics requirements, timeline parameters, project status updates, and milestone achievements.
  • Support project strategy through technical business analysis and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Manage project resources including fiscal, physical, and capital resources.
  • Motivate, inspire, and mentor team members to achieve project goals.
  • Organize, prioritize, and oversee project work and multiple deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Six years of progressively responsible experience in managing large scale and complex projects.
  • Knowledge of human resource administration principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with business and information technology practices in comparable organizations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Access, Excel, Visio, and SharePoint.
  • Proven project management skills with a track record of on-time project completion.
  • Ability to manage project resources effectively.
  • Strong facilitation and leadership skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize project activities.
  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in classification and compensation or organizational design and development, especially in K-12 or public sector organizations.
  • Experience related to information systems.
  • Professional certification such as PHR or PMP.
