About the position

The Project Manager role at Optum involves managing, implementing, and executing key projects across the Mountain West Region. This position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and senior leadership to ensure alignment with strategic initiatives. The Project Manager will be responsible for supervising projects, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring that all goals and objectives are met effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and executes Project Plans and revises appropriately to meet changing requirements and needs
  • Develops and maintains solid relationships with both internal/external customers, IT, enterprise-wide business units, and senior leadership
  • Represents the directives of senior leadership and acts as a key liaison on cross-functional projects
  • Helps prioritize projects, business initiatives, and strategic plans
  • Acts as a centralized facilitating point for the coordination of tasks and integrated execution of key strategic initiatives
  • Attends and supports all key internal meetings, ensuring timely follow-up of all action items
  • Works through issues and roadblocks with internal and external stakeholders
  • Makes presentations to management on project updates, project cycle, and expected results
  • Ensures projects are completed on time and in scope
  • Recommends opportunities and/or action plans for improved performance based on business need

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in project management
  • Experience managing projects of medium to large scope
  • Experience managing multiple projects at the same time (8-12 at various stages and of varying complexities)
  • Experience managing project teams
  • Experience leading or participating in process improvement initiatives
  • Intermediate level proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, OneNote
  • Proven ability to facilitate meetings with all levels of project teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to travel 10%

Nice-to-haves

  • PMP or CAPM certification
