About the position

As a Project Manager I or II at Novo Nordisk, you will be an integral part of the Fill & Finish Expansions (FFEx) team, which is responsible for overseeing all major expansion activities within aseptic production, solid dosage forms, finished products, fill & finish warehousing, and quality control across all production areas in Product Supply. This department is crucial to the company's mission of serving millions of patients by designing, planning, and building new aseptic filling capacities. You will be working in a dynamic environment that emphasizes modern technology and innovative approaches to production, ensuring that the facilities we create today will stand the test of time for the next two decades. In this role, you will manage multiple projects simultaneously, focusing on low to medium complexity projects. Your responsibilities will include ensuring that all projects are adequately staffed and executed according to established project plans, while adhering to budget, schedule, and scope constraints. You will lead multi-disciplined project teams, develop and execute project plans, and refine business cases in collaboration with project owners and sponsors. Your ability to communicate effectively and manage relationships with various stakeholders will be essential to your success. You will also be responsible for providing project cash flow projections, managing contract resources, and ensuring that all project work aligns with the expectations set forth by senior management. Your role will require you to monitor and report on project progress, ensuring that all deliverables meet the desired quality and performance standards. Additionally, you will support project manager mentoring and onboarding, contributing to the overall growth and development of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring all projects are staffed and executed according to project plans and within budget, schedule, and scope.
  • Lead multi-disciplined project teams to complete projects on-time and on-budget, meeting all requirements (quality, cost, schedule, scope).
  • Develop and execute assigned project plans in accordance with scope, schedule, quality, impact, and cost objectives.
  • Negotiate required staffing with lines of business and assist with required training of personnel supporting the project.
  • Develop project staffing plans, considering both internal and external workers needed to support projects.
  • Provide project cash flow projections to support budget cycles.
  • Refine business case with project owner/sponsor and establish quantifiable project benefits.
  • Manage, coordinate, and direct contract resources and internal resources.
  • Refine and clarify project scope through early project analysis with subject matter experts and owners.
  • Develop bid packages, bid evaluation, and drive vendor selection, working with procurement to create project-specific contracts.
  • Accountable for financial project management through purchase order creation, management, invoicing, and cost forecasting.
  • Monitor and control project work with stringent follow-up on quality, schedule, and budget to deliver the desired end-product.
  • Monitor and report project progress and communications to management and other stakeholders, presenting in steering groups.
  • Ensure the quality/content of steering group status and gate presentations.
  • Review, approve, and endorse project-related procurement (i.e., purchase orders and bid events).
  • Support building, managing, and improving Project Portfolio Management systems.
  • Ensure alignment with global programs and other site projects to actively share best practices, knowledge, and visions.
  • Support project manager mentoring and onboarding.
  • Follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other Technical Science field of study from an accredited university required; or an Associate's degree in Engineering Technology or other Technical Science field of study with five (5) years of proven project management experience; or a High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of seven (7) years of proven project management experience required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of proven project management experience required.
  • Leading change management projects required.
  • Leading complex and major capital expenditure projects preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment preferred.
  • Advanced Project Management competencies obtained through relevant project management training or experience preferred.
  • Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills; presentation and facilitation skills; and negotiation and conflict resolution skills required.
  • Ability to work in both technical and non-technical areas preferred.
  • Ability to use creativity to resolve problems that arise during project execution a plus.
  • Knowledgeable in GMP concepts preferred.
  • Understanding of product documentation and standard operating procedures preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lean principles and how they apply in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Ability to create and manage work plans and detailed project schedules preferred.
  • Strong analytical/reasoning, organizational, and multi-tasking skills preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with key stakeholders in a cross-cultural environment and demonstrates superior written and oral communication skills preferred.
  • Develops and maintains strong internal and external relationships required.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office required.
  • Ability to function independently, as well as execution of good judgment in decision making and strong leadership skills preferred.
