About the position

The Project Manager II at Western Governors University (WGU) is responsible for overseeing the execution and process of all projects within their department. This role involves collaborating with multiple teams and stakeholders to develop project plans that align with strategic priorities. The Project Manager II ensures effective communication of project scope, timelines, and commitments, while monitoring project status and reporting on risks and milestones to departmental leadership. This position plays a crucial role in tracking deadlines, managing incoming requests, and utilizing project management tools to ensure project success.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the execution and process of all projects for the department.
• Develop project plans according to strategic development priorities.
• Communicate project scope, dates, commitments, and plans to all stakeholders.
• Monitor and report project status, including risks and milestone achievements.
• Document project deliverables and maintain accurate project management records.
• Influence the work of project team members in line with departmental priorities.
• Manage incoming project requests and validate requirements.
• Produce timely and accurate project reports, including weekly progress updates.
• Provide input to refine project management procedures for improved efficiency.

Requirements

• Proven experience in project management, preferably in an educational or similar environment.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to analyze project requirements and develop realistic project plans and schedules.
• Experience in monitoring project status and reporting on progress and issues.
