About the position

The Project Manager II for Generation in Western NY is responsible for planning, directing, monitoring, and controlling various phases of engineering, procurement, and implementation of projects within Generation, Transmission, Infrastructure, and Facilities. This role involves managing project teams, ensuring compliance with scope, cost, and schedule objectives, and providing leadership to both direct reports and external resources. The Project Manager will also oversee performance management, budget creation, and maintain communication across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct the activities of the project team to ensure projects comply with approved scope, cost, and schedule objectives.
  • Conduct regular status meetings and site visits to manage direct reports and develop site relationships.
  • Ensure deliverables from in-house and external resources meet project objectives within established constraints.
  • Direct and oversee all activities related to planning, design, procurement, and implementation of projects.
  • Lead and coordinate with construction management on project documents and drawings for constructability.
  • Ensure compliance with Governance procedures at all stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Create and manage the department budget for the portfolio of projects and overhead costs.
  • Make decisions within authorized limits and recommend those requiring higher authority approval.
  • Plan for necessary Trustee approvals and prepare required materials.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop staff, overseeing onboarding and career development.
  • Manage performance and development of direct reports using the performance management system.
  • Maintain transparent communication through various means including meetings and presentations.
  • Develop and present internal and external presentations that are logical and influential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering required; Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of managing technical, engineering, construction, or related projects.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of programs/projects ranging in value from $100k to $100M.
  • New York State PE License preferred.
  • Project Management Professional certification (PMP) preferred.
  • Design Build Institute of America certification preferred or ability to obtain within 1 year.
