About the position

As a Project Manager II in the IT/Automation Warehouse and Intralogistics department at Novo Nordisk, you will be responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously across various business units. Your role will involve ensuring that all projects are executed within budget, on time, and within scope. You will lead multi-disciplined project teams to complete projects that meet all requirements, including quality, cost, schedule, and scope. This position requires you to develop and execute project plans that align with the defined objectives, while also managing project staffing and resources effectively. In this role, you will be tasked with refining business cases, establishing quantifiable project benefits, and providing cash flow projections to support budget cycles. You will also be responsible for developing bid packages, evaluating bids, and driving vendor selection, while ensuring that all procurement processes align with project needs. Monitoring and controlling project work will be crucial, as you will need to follow up on quality, schedule, and budget to ensure the desired end product is delivered. Additionally, you will be expected to communicate project progress to stakeholders and site leadership, support project manager mentoring and onboarding, and adhere to safety and environmental requirements. Your ability to work in a dynamic environment, manage change, and foster strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders will be key to your success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously across various business units.
  • Lead multi-disciplined project teams to complete projects on-time and on-budget.
  • Develop and execute project plans in accordance with scope, schedule, quality, impact, and cost objectives.
  • Negotiate required staffing with lines of business and assist with training personnel supporting the project.
  • Develop project staffing plans, including internal and external workers needed to support projects.
  • Provide project cash flow projections to support budget cycles.
  • Refine business case with project owner/sponsor and establish quantifiable project benefits.
  • Manage, coordinate, and direct contract resources and internal resources.
  • Refine and clarify project scope through early project analysis with subject matter experts.
  • Provide clear goals to ensure effective use of time and resources and build employee motivation.
  • Develop bid packages, evaluate bids, and drive vendor selection.
  • Accountable for financial project management through purchase order creation and cost forecasting.
  • Monitor and control project work with stringent follow-up on quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Monitor and report project progress to stakeholders and relevant department/site leadership.
  • Ensure quality and content of steering group status and gate presentations.
  • Review, approve, and endorse project-related procurement.
  • Support building, managing, and improving Project Portfolio Management systems.
  • Ensure alignment with global programs and other site projects to share best practices.
  • Support project manager mentoring and onboarding.
  • Follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other Technical Science field required; or an Associate's degree with a minimum of seven years of project management experience; or a High School Diploma with nine years of project management experience.
  • Minimum of five years of proven project management experience, including leading change management and complex capital expenditure projects.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment preferred.
  • Advanced Project Management competencies through relevant training or experience preferred.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills, presentation and facilitation skills, and negotiation and conflict resolution skills required.
  • Ability to work in both technical and non-technical areas preferred.
  • Ability to use creativity to resolve problems during project execution preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in GMP concepts preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lean principles and their application in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Understanding of product documentation and standard operating procedures preferred.
  • Ability to create and manage work plans and detailed project schedules required.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and multi-tasking skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with key stakeholders in a cross-cultural environment required.
  • Develops and maintains strong internal and external relationships required.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office required.
  • Ability to function independently and demonstrate good judgment in decision-making required.
  • Functions well in a team environment required.
  • Meets objectives demonstrating strong change management skills required.
  • Proven project management experience with direct management of multiple projects simultaneously required.
  • Proven expertise in planning, organizing, managing execution, and revising work plans for cross-functional project teams preferred.
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking in problem-solving required.
