About the position

As a Project Manager II in IT at Crowley Maritime Corporation, you will be responsible for managing the entire life cycle of moderately complex to complex assigned information technology (IT) projects. This includes overseeing projects from definition through completion, ensuring adherence to IT project management standards, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies, and change management processes as defined by the organization's IT Project Management Office (IT PMO). You will play a crucial role in supporting the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) and the Department of Defense (DoD) in their migration system from the Automated Air Load Planning System to the Integrated Computerized Deployment System (ICODES). This system is designed to assist users with staging and load-planning requirements for various military and commercial modes of transportation, integrating intelligent tools for effective cargo placement and management. In this role, you will manage, coordinate, and establish priorities for the complete life cycle of IT projects, including planning, design, programming, testing, and implementation. You will determine project needs, acquire necessary resources, and design project plans that identify major tasks and milestones based on scope, resources, budget, and personnel. Your responsibilities will also include conducting financial and budgetary analyses to define project worth, selecting project team members, providing direction and technical guidance, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget. You will maintain project documentation and communicate status updates to IT leadership and key stakeholders, while also acting as a subject matter expert in IT project management. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing, implementing, improving, and maintaining Crowley's Information Security solutions, including the Data Classification and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) program. This position requires a proactive approach to managing risks, optimizing value, and ensuring that business requirements are fulfilled through effective project management practices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the entire life cycle of assigned IT projects from definition through completion.
  • Coordinate and establish priorities for IT projects, including planning, design, programming, testing, and implementation.
  • Determine project needs and acquire necessary resources for project success.
  • Design project plans that identify needs and define major tasks and milestones based on scope, resources, budget, and personnel.
  • Direct technological research by studying organization goals, strategies, practices, and user projects.
  • Recommend IT strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes and anticipating requirements.
  • Define, deliver, and support strategic plans for implementing technological solutions.
  • Conduct financial and budgetary analysis to define project worth and ascertain system fit for user needs.
  • Select project team members and assign tasks and responsibilities.
  • Provide direction and technical guidance to project team members, communicating job expectations and appraising job results.
  • Plan, initiate, coordinate, and enforce systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Act as an IT project management subject matter expert and lead project management objectives.
  • Select and lead cross-functional project teams and facilitate project meetings.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to define the scope and requirements of assigned projects.
  • Anticipate internal/external business challenges and develop detailed work breakdown structures, schedules, estimates, and resource management plans.
  • Perform need, trend, feasibility, and performance assessments to ensure business requirements are fulfilled and risks are mitigated.
  • Manage the integration of vendor tasks and monitor associated deliverables.
  • Track performance to operating plans, budgets, forecasts, and schedules.
  • Maintain project documentation and communicate status to IT leadership and key stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, or a related field; or a combination of post-high school education and related experience equal to seven (7) years.
  • 5 years of related IT project management experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Advanced proficiency with electronic project management systems and tools, such as AtTask Enterprise Work Management.

  • Relevant commercial certifications are desired.
