In this role, you will be responsible for managing design contracts for the US Federal Government, with a primary focus on projects for the Department of Defense, including the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Space Force, and National Guard. You will demonstrate knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), Unified Facilities Guide Specification (UFGS), and DOD Installation Design Standards. Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with budgets, financial, and contractual requirements of projects, as well as managing both small Minor Capital/SRM and large complex projects. You will provide technical leadership to project delivery teams, establish and discuss project goals, objectives, design standards, and procedures with project personnel, Market Sector Leaders, and the Director of Operations. Coordination and conducting internal meetings with staff and consultants will be essential to ensure compliance with construction documentation and design specifications. You will also manage various pre-design services, prepare and deliver presentations on project design and production, and lead reviews with government agencies for code compliance. Your role will require you to monitor and review the technical quality of documents produced in accordance with government and company standards, participate in cross-discipline discussions, and coordinate the work of professionals and technicians. You will need to exercise judgment in evaluating, selecting, and using standard techniques to solve problems encountered during projects. This position requires independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation/modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.

Responsibilities

  • Manage design contracts for the US Federal Government, focusing on Department of Defense projects.
  • Ensure compliance with budgets, financial, and contractual requirements of projects.
  • Directly manage small Minor Capital/SRM and large complex projects.
  • Provide technical leadership to project delivery teams.
  • Establish and discuss project goals, objectives, design standards, and procedures with project personnel, Market Sector Leaders, and the Director of Operations.
  • Coordinate and conduct internal meetings with staff and consultants to ensure compliance with construction documentation and design specifications.
  • Manage various pre-design services including DoD planning, programming, feasibility studies, facility condition assessment, site selection, and cost analysis.
  • Prepare and deliver oral and written presentations on the design and production of projects; present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to clients.
  • Lead reviews with government agencies and various other jurisdictional agencies for code compliance.
  • Assist with managing the performance of design quality, financial, and strategic goals.
  • Monitor and review the technical quality of documents produced in accordance with government and company standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in cross-discipline discussions and coordination with multidisciplinary teammates.
  • Travel for project-related activities may be required.
  • Coordinate the work of professionals and technicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or similar disciplines from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of project management experience with new construction and renovation projects.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience working with Federal projects.
  • Experience with large and small projects.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, SpecsIntact, and MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project).
  • Experience leading large and small user groups through a project design process.
  • Working knowledge of current construction materials and methods and a variety of project delivery and contracting processes.
  • No adverse history which would prevent obtaining a Security clearance.
  • US Citizenship.
