About the position

The Project Manager II at the Cambridge Housing Authority (CHA) is responsible for administering and coordinating planning tasks related to the modernization, new development, and redevelopment of public housing. This role supports CHA's strategic goals and objectives, ensuring effective implementation of policies and programs aimed at providing safe, high-quality, affordable housing for low-income individuals and families.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and applications for funding under federal, state, and local programs.
  • Assist in planning studies and data collection and analysis efforts necessary for effective implementation of CHA's policies and programs.
  • Represent the Authority in meetings and discussions with funding agencies, city officials, and tenant/citizen groups regarding modernization, development, and redevelopment activities.
  • Implement planning phases of modernization, new development, and redevelopment programs utilizing available federal, state, and local programs to meet housing needs.
  • Perform design and project management functions, including preparing recommendations on project scope, soliciting and administering architects and engineers, and maintaining project documentation.
  • Coordinate work with tenant councils, managers, citizen groups, and staff in other CHA departments; coordinate site selection for new development projects; review reports and construction plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in program administration, contract administration, or housing planning is required; Master's degree in planning, business administration, real estate development, public administration, or architecture is preferred.
  • Valid Massachusetts driver's license and insurable under CHA policies.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Outlook) and capability to use financial, accounting, and file management software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in affordable housing development or public sector project management.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local housing programs and funding sources.
