About the position
The position involves managing and coordinating capital and operational engineering projects within the Engineering and Project Management Division of the Public Utilities Department. The role requires providing direction, guidance, and technical expertise to contractors and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and safety procedures. The individual will oversee project budgets, schedules, and coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure successful project completion.
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate capital and operational engineering projects.
- Provide direction and guidance to contractors and work crews.
- Monitor work progress and inspect completed work.
- Ensure compliance with codes, laws, and safety procedures.
- Consult with Division management to review project status and resolve issues.
- Review plans, designs, and specifications for projects.
- Prepare and administer project budgets and schedules.
- Coordinate bidding and contracting processes for services.
- Oversee work performed by consultants and contractors.
- Conduct inspections and maintain quality control records.
- Prepare executive summaries for presentations to officials.
- Coordinate public education activities related to projects.
- Participate in legal activities related to projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
- Five years of related experience.
- Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) required within six months of hire.
- Valid Florida Driver's License with applicable endorsements.
