About the position

As a Project Manager III in the IT/Automation Infrastructure & CCTV department at Novo Nordisk, you will play a pivotal role in executing assigned projects across various business units while adhering to cost, quality, and schedule requirements. Your primary responsibility will be to lead multi-disciplined project teams to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget, meeting all specified requirements. You will coach and support junior project managers (PM1s and PM2s) in planning and executing their projects, thereby ensuring overall project success. This includes partnering with the Line of Business to guide projects, ensuring that they are executed and staffed according to the established plans, and supporting the development of project roadmaps and area master plans. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing project plans that align with the scope, schedule, quality, impact, and cost objectives. You will lead project teams, negotiate staffing requirements, and assist with the training of personnel involved in the projects. Additionally, you will provide project cash flow projections and high-level schedule projections to support budget cycles, refine business cases with project owners, and establish quantifiable project benefits. Your role will also involve managing contract resources and internal resources, refining project scopes, and ensuring effective use of time and resources to motivate employees. You will be accountable for the financial aspects of projects, including purchase order creation, management, invoicing, and cost forecasting. Monitoring and controlling project work will be crucial, as will reporting project progress to management and stakeholders. You will also support the building and improvement of Project Portfolio Management systems and ensure alignment with global programs and other site projects. Your responsibilities will extend to mentoring and onboarding new project managers, ensuring that all safety and environmental requirements are met during project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multi-disciplined project teams to complete projects on-time, on-budget, meeting all requirements (quality, cost, schedule)
  • Develop & execute assigned project plans in accordance with the scope, schedule, quality, impact & cost objectives
  • Negotiate required staffing with Line of Business & assist with required training of personnel supporting the project
  • Develop project staffing plans, considering both internal & external workers needed to support projects
  • Provide project cash flow projections and high-level schedule projections to support Budget Cycles
  • Refine business case with project owner/sponsor
  • Establish & communicate quantifiable project benefits
  • Manage, coordinate & direct contract resources, & internal resources
  • Refine & clarify project scope through early project analysis with subject matter experts & owners
  • Provide clear goals for effective use of time & resources and build employee motivation
  • Develop bid packages, bid evaluation & drive vendor selection
  • Accountable for financial project through purchase order creation, management, invoicing & cost forecasting
  • Monitor & control project work with stringent follow-up on quality, schedule & budget
  • Monitor & report project progress, communications to management & other stakeholders
  • Ensure the quality/content of steering group status & gate presentations
  • Review, approve, & endorse project related procurement
  • Support building, managing & improving Project Portfolio Management systems
  • Ensure alignment with global programs & other site projects
  • Support project manager mentoring & onboarding

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other Technical Science field of study from an accredited university required
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of proven project management experience required
  • Leading change management projects required
  • Leading complex & major capital expenditure projects required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment required
  • Excellent writing & oral communication skills; presentation & facilitation skills; & negotiation & conflict resolution skills required
  • Ability to work in both technical & non-technical areas required
  • Ability to use creativity to resolve problems that arise during project execution required
  • Understanding of product documentation & standard operating procedures required
  • Ability to create & manage work plans & detailed project schedules required
  • Strong analytical/reasoning, organizational & multi-tasking skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with key stakeholders in a cross-cultural environment required
  • Proficient in basic computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office required
  • Ability to function independently, as well as execution of good judgement in decision making & strong leadership skills required
  • Functions well in team environment is required
  • Meets objectives demonstrating strong change management skills required
  • Proven project management experience with direct management of multiple projects simultaneously required

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced project management competencies obtained through relevant project management training or experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Lean principles & how they apply in a manufacturing environment preferred
