About the position

The Project Manager position at Black & Veatch is a pivotal role within the Industrial Manufacturing sector, focusing on design, construction, and operations in industries such as manufacturing, ag/bio-process, and food/beverage. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing medium to large Engineering, Procurement, Construction, or Design Build projects, ensuring that all aspects of the project are executed effectively, including safety, cost, schedule, and quality. This role requires a deep understanding of the Industrial and Manufacturing market, along with the ability to lead multi-discipline teams and coordinate activities across various project elements. The Project Manager will work closely with clients and internal teams to develop project execution plans, manage financial forecasting, and oversee risk management strategies. Excellent communication skills are essential, as the Project Manager will negotiate with executive management and present project reviews to stakeholders. The position also emphasizes the importance of maintaining client relationships and ensuring project profitability while adhering to high ethical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple projects and clients effectively.
  • Oversee the successful execution of contracted engineering, procurement, and construction scope.
  • Develop and maintain the Project Execution Plan and staffing plan.
  • Responsible for project financial forecasting and managing risk.
  • Prepare and present monthly project reviews to management.
  • Collaborate with team members across multiple time zones to create winning proposals.
  • Manage a team of multi-discipline engineers to deliver detailed design projects from schematic design through construction administration.
  • Communicate project status, next steps, and potential risks with the sales and account management team.
  • Negotiate with multiple levels of executive management within clients' organizations.
  • Develop and maintain the project Change Management Program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in engineering or a related field.
  • 9+ years of relevant experience in industrial manufacturing, specifically in food & beverage and precision fermentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on client service and relationship management.
  • Strong financial acumen with proven experience in managing client invoicing, internal costs, and overall project profitability.
  • Ability to develop and maintain detailed project schedules, preferably using P6 or Project software.
  • Demonstrated initiative and leadership skills, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exhibit high ethical standards in business and maintain a reputation of integrity among clients.
