About the position

The IT Project Manager at Tommy Bahama is responsible for overseeing and managing technical projects within the Information Technology organization. This role requires a strong application of communication and problem-solving skills, along with a solid understanding of best practices for managing IT-related initiatives. The IT Project Manager will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders to create comprehensive project plans, ensuring that all deliverables are met according to the established timelines, quality standards, and budget constraints. In this position, the IT Project Manager will be tasked with managing multiple projects simultaneously, running regular project status meetings, and tracking and prioritizing tasks for various teams. They will ensure that all project health and status metrics are accurately reported and communicated to stakeholders. The role also involves building project teams, managing resource needs based on project requirements, and coordinating the procurement of necessary equipment for technical projects. Additionally, the IT Project Manager will oversee the end-to-end process for implementing technology at new store locations, which includes managing voice, data, and all computer and network equipment. They will also be responsible for transitioning completed projects to operations, which includes developing a production support plan. The position requires preparing detailed reports and briefings on project status, progress, changes, and communication plans, as well as analyzing project trends and escalating issues as necessary to keep projects on track. Other duties may be assigned to support the overall business objectives as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage technical projects for the Information Technology organization.
  • Create project plans and ensure delivery against those plans.
  • Resolve risks and issues as they arise and communicate progress to stakeholders.
  • Ensure successful project delivery within scope, schedule, quality, and budget.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure proper project intake.
  • Manage multiple projects and project teams simultaneously.
  • Run regular project status meetings and track project health/status metrics.
  • Communicate project information and manage relationships with cross-functional departments and external vendors.
  • Build project teams and manage resource needs based on project requirements.
  • Track project deadlines, tasks, completions, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Identify and coordinate the procurement of equipment for technical projects.
  • Manage the implementation of technology at new stores, including voice, data, and network equipment.
  • Coordinate the transition of completed projects to operations, including developing a production support plan.
  • Prepare reports and briefings on project status, progress, and changes.
  • Analyze, track, and report on project trends and escalate issues as needed.

Requirements

  • College degree in a related field preferred.
  • 4+ years of Project Management experience.
  • 4+ years of progressive IT experience.
  • PMP certification is a plus.
  • Experience managing projects using MS Project and other project management tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes and maximize efficiencies.
  • Excellent understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Strong customer-service orientation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
