About the position

The Project Manager, IT at the University of Miami Health System is responsible for overseeing the entire project life cycle, ensuring that all strategic initiatives align with the university's mission and objectives. This role involves assembling project teams, managing resources, and developing schedules to ensure timely project completion while maintaining quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Identify project stakeholders and define project roles and responsibilities.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project plans that communicate tasks, milestone dates, statuses, and resource allocation.
  • Facilitate IT project governance and analysis.
  • Create and control all project-related documents.
  • Provide and maintain accurate and timely project information in all project plans, communications, status reporting, and SharePoint sites.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams by task assignment and follow up to ensure on-time completion.
  • Maintain the quality and accuracy of the IT project portfolio.
  • Manage multiple concurrent project assignments effectively.
  • Perform forecasting, change management, escalation management, meeting facilitation, and variance analysis.
  • Work closely with sponsors, stakeholders, users, technical team leads, and management to execute core project management functions.
  • Conduct regular project reviews and communicate project status accurately throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide regular and timely feedback to team members and their respective managers.
  • Identify and resolve issues that may negatively impact a project or project deliverables.
  • Seek and implement innovative ways to identify, respond to, and control project obstacles/risks.
  • Assist the test team in creating test plans and testing efforts.
  • Pursue ways to improve operations and provide management with productivity reports.
  • Assist in mentoring department interns.
  • Perform follow-up investigations on inquiries, complaints, and problems, ensuring resolutions are within established guidelines.
  • Establish and assess the effectiveness of internal controls and compliance with university policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Familiarity with Service Now and O365 preferred.
  • Knowledge of current project management best practices including Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills with proven problem-solving abilities.
  • Superior team building skills and the ability to collaborate well with others.
