About the position

The Lead Roadway Engineer at AKRF, Inc. will play a crucial role in the design and management of public roadway and infrastructure projects for various City and State agency clients. This position emphasizes project management, technical excellence, and collaboration within a supportive environment, contributing to the future development of the region.

Responsibilities

• Lead and/or support project management of capital improvement projects for roadway and utility infrastructure in Connecticut.
• Manage discrete tasks, project schedule, and budget.
• Lead and/or support design and production of plans, specifications, quantities, and deliverables in accordance with CTDOT standards.
• Prepare proposals for pursuit of new opportunities.
• Provide direction, delegation, mentoring, and training to staff engineers.
• Facilitate day-to-day project communication and coordination with clients and other engineers.

Requirements

• 5-12 years' experience in civil engineering or related field.
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
• CT PE (or the ability to obtain the PE licensure within 6-12 months of hire).
• CTDOT experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Microstation / OpenRoads strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D is a plus.
• Working knowledge of roadway design including horizontal and vertical alignments, grading, drainage analysis and design, utility design and coordination.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Superior attention to detail and organizational ability.
