About the position

The Project Manager at Southland Industries is responsible for overseeing large, complex Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) construction projects. This role involves managing project planning, personnel, contract compliance, and financials while ensuring safety and quality standards are met. The Project Manager will mentor Project Engineers and foster strong relationships with clients and team members, driving innovative construction techniques and ensuring project profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight to a single large project or multiple MEP construction projects.
  • Manage personnel, contract compliance, project planning, and scheduling.
  • Prepare reports on cash flow, materials management, safety, job cost, and profitability.
  • Develop strong working relationships with field craftspeople, project teams, general contractors, and clients.
  • Utilize LEAN principles to deliver value to the owner.
  • Manage project financials to ensure profitability.
  • Mentor Project Engineers and prepare them for career advancement.
  • Plan the project from start to finish, understanding all moving parts involved.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 7-10+ years of experience in managing mechanical construction projects.
  • Experience working at a MEP firm managing multiple MEP projects.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, HVAC, mechanical, and piping.
  • Ability to creatively solve problems and lead teams in innovative construction techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Design/Build and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) project experience.
  • Familiarity with Lean Construction tools.
  • Experience working on data centers, federal work, industrial, and/or healthcare projects.
