About the position

The Project Manager for New Product Development at G&W Electric is responsible for overseeing the entire scope, schedule, cost management, risk management, and communication activities for assigned development projects. This role ensures that all customer and company requirements regarding cost, quality, and timing are met while managing the design process of new products for manufacturing. The Project Manager will lead a multidisciplinary global team and is accountable for the performance and results of project teams, fostering collaboration across various departments.

Responsibilities

• Establish and lead a multidisciplinary global team in the development of new and innovative products.
• Work collaboratively with stakeholders including Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Aftermarket Service, Quality, Finance, Product Management, and Marketing to ensure successful project delivery.
• Manage the schedule, scope, budget, and staffing to keep the project on track.
• Coordinate resources and complete Product Realization Stage-Gate requirements.
• Identify, prioritize, and mitigate project risks.
• Develop critical path analyses to manage project timelines, reduce costs, and mitigate risks.
• Support the development of project management best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Review projects and processes against company goals for cost efficiency and reliability.
• Communicate project information to team members, management, and stakeholders through presentations and correspondence.
• Collect information for data mining and analysis to improve problem-solving and business results.
• Prepare documentation of processes, material requirements, test results, and project activities as required.
• Create/revise G&W standards as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification strongly preferred.
• At least 5 years of project management experience in a highly technical product development role.
• Preferred experience in the development of Distribution or Transmission power equipment, Protective relays, or Custom engineered industrial products.
• Strong understanding of development engineering processes such as lean product development, DFM/DFA/DFX, Six Sigma, and Lean concepts.
• Experience with industry quality actions such as PPAP and SPC.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organization, facilitation, and arbitration skills.
• Demonstrated ownership of tasks from cradle to grave and effective time management skills.
