About the position

The Project Manager for New Product Development at G&W Electric is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of development projects. This includes managing the scope, schedule, cost, and risk associated with each project while ensuring that all customer and company requirements for cost, quality, and timing are met. The Project Manager will lead a multidisciplinary global team, collaborating with various stakeholders such as Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Aftermarket Service, Quality, Finance, Product Management, and Marketing to ensure successful project delivery. In this role, the Project Manager will coordinate resources and ensure compliance with Product Realization Stage-Gate requirements. They will also be responsible for identifying and mitigating project risks, developing critical path analyses, and implementing strategies to accelerate timelines and reduce costs. The Project Manager will support the development of best practices in project management and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Effective communication is essential, as the Project Manager will be tasked with disseminating project information to team members, management, and other stakeholders through formal presentations and correspondence. Additionally, they will collect data for ongoing analysis to facilitate problem-solving and improve business results. Documentation of processes, material requirements, test results, and project activities will also be a key responsibility, along with the potential for other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead a multidisciplinary global team in the development of new and innovative products.
  • Work collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Manage the schedule, scope, budget, and staffing to keep the project on track.
  • Coordinate resources and complete Product Realization Stage-Gate requirements.
  • Identify, prioritize, and mitigate project risks.
  • Develop critical path analyses to manage project timelines and costs.
  • Support the development of project management best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Review projects and processes against company goals for cost efficiency and reliability.
  • Communicate project information to team members and stakeholders through presentations and correspondence.
  • Collect information for data mining and analysis to improve business results.
  • Prepare written documentation of processes, material requirements, and project activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field required; Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification strongly preferred.
  • At least 5 years of project management experience in a highly technical product development role.
  • Preferred experience in the development of Distribution or Transmission power equipment, Protective relays, or Custom engineered industrial products.
  • Strong understanding of good development engineering processes such as lean product development, DFM/DFA/DFX, Six Sigma, and Lean concepts.
  • Experience with industry quality actions such as PPAP and SPC.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organization, facilitation, and arbitration skills.
  • Demonstrated ownership of tasks from Cradle to grave, a 'driver' mentality, and effective time management skills.
