About the position

The Principal Agile Project Manager at Blue Shield of California is responsible for managing and driving the delivery of strategic and operational initiatives within the Marketing and Digital Program Management Office. This role involves overseeing complex implementations using Agile practices, ensuring alignment with business goals, and managing resources, schedules, and budgets for initiatives exceeding $10 million. The position requires strong leadership and communication skills to facilitate collaboration among various teams and stakeholders, ensuring successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and drive delivery of strategic and operational initiatives within the Marketing and Digital Portfolio.
  • Act as a technical and business initiative leader, partnering with product owners and managers.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor estimates, budgets, forecasts, and accruals for initiatives.
  • Manage and maintain Jira records and dashboards throughout delivery.
  • Define initiative/product delivery governance and Agile team structure.
  • Track initiative and product capability against major milestones and business outcomes.
  • Facilitate change management and ensure operational readiness throughout the lifecycle of initiatives.
  • Communicate with senior management to report status, drive progress, and manage risks.
  • Lead and facilitate initiative meetings and executive briefings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Master's degree preferred.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in project, product, and/or program management with budget accountability.
  • 5 years of experience in delivering Agile initiatives and programs.
  • 10 years of experience in Agile, Waterfall, and/or hybrid SDLC delivery.
  • Expertise in project management tools such as PlanView, Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft Project.
  • Experience delivering complex data warehouse and analytics initiatives.
  • Strong executive-level communication skills and ability to synthesize information.
  • Information technology/technical background experience, including complex project management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Scrum Master certification (CSM) strongly preferred.
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification strongly preferred.
  • SAFe Practice Consultant (SPC) certification preferred.
  • Prior healthcare payer experience preferred.
