About the position

David Yurman is seeking a Project Manager for Product Development, specifically in the High and Fine Jewelry sector. This role is pivotal in overseeing the comprehensive project management of new product development, ensuring that all aspects from engineering to manufacturing align with the design aesthetic and cost requirements. The Project Manager will serve as the primary contact for external vendors, facilitating communication and collaboration throughout the development and launch process. This position requires a proactive approach to project leadership, maintaining open lines of communication with internal departments to ensure a seamless development lifecycle for new products. The Project Manager will be responsible for tracking and aligning all development projects with established timelines, executing and maintaining product-specific documentation, and collaborating on technologically driven solutions to enhance product manufacturability, reduce costs, and improve quality. Additionally, the role involves maintaining data integrity within Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Oracle systems, executing and tracking new finished goods and sample orders, and organizing HJ/Fine Jewelry pieces associated with ongoing projects. The successful candidate will also support additional manufacturing and development initiatives as needed. This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Product Development and is based in New York, NY, with a hybrid working mode that allows for up to five days of work per week in the office. Limited travel may be required for this role, making it essential for the Project Manager to be adaptable and ready to engage with various stakeholders in different settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide multifaceted project leadership for new product development efforts focusing on engineering, manufacturing, cost, and design aesthetic needs.
  • Serve as primary contact (owner) with external vendors during development collaboration.
  • Partner cross departmentally with internal departments to encourage seamless development of new products throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Maintain open and regular communication with department management on the status of ongoing projects, providing documentation or reporting as required.
  • Responsible for tracking and aligning all development projects with established timelines.
  • Execute and maintain all product specific documentation including project kits and supplemental documents for new development and active finished goods.
  • Collaborate and execute technologically driven solutions to attain fundamental product improvements including, but not limited to, product manufacturability, cost reductions, quality improvements.
  • Maintain PLM and Oracle systems to ensure data integrity throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Execute and track new finished good and sample orders; ensuring that products are properly ordered, received, transacted, and dispositioned.
  • Organize and maintain HJ/Fine Jewelry pieces associated with ongoing projects both physically and systematically; ensuring that all product is accounted for and dispositioned in a timely manner.
  • Support additional manufacturing and development initiatives as needed, including ASR of existing styles.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years' Project Management experience with the Jewelry industry or manufacturing engineering experience required.
  • Jewelry Industry experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience in new product development.
  • Knowledge of modern jewelry manufacturing techniques, precious metal metallurgy, and basic gemstones.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Strong communication (English written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work within minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite computer skills (specifically Excel, Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Working knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management and Oracle Software.
  • Practical CAD knowledge a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Gemology degree a plus.
