About the position

The Project Manager - Product Development at Pentair will lead cross-functional teams in managing medium to large scale product development projects, particularly in consumer pool products. This role requires a blend of leadership, technical, and soft skills to ensure projects are completed within scope, schedule, and budget. The Project Manager will focus on connected products, including hardware and software development, and will foster collaboration across various departments to achieve project goals.

Responsibilities

• Manage medium to large scale and/or technically complex departmental and cross-functional product development projects.
• Lead project teams from concept to post-release using the company product launch process (stage-gate).
• Facilitate development Blitz or brainstorming Kaizen events and chair project meetings.
• Update task, budget, and resource progress on weekly schedule updates, logging issues, risks, and lessons learned.
• Focus on scope control, schedule updates, budget tracking, and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with engineering, product management, operations, supply chain, finance, and other stakeholders to prioritize project milestones and deliverables.
• Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones, and daily task activities with follow-up to ensure on-time delivery.
• Lead weekly cross-functional project meetings and maintain minutes/notes/action items.
• Gather feedback from project team members to track progress and mitigate risks.
• Document all risks, issues, and lessons learned for continuous improvement.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Engineering or other technical discipline from an accredited institution; MBA or advanced technical degree is a plus.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is desirable.
• 7+ years leading cross-functional project teams without direct supervisory responsibilities.
• 5+ years of engineering design or manufacturing experience in a medium-high volume production, product development environment.
• 2+ years managing project teams developing consumer connected products, including hardware and embedded firmware, software, and apps.
• Previous IoT connected product development experience is highly desirable.
• Experience working with or managing the development of consumer mobile apps (iOS/Android) related to hardware deployment is desirable.
• Highly detail-oriented, organized, and possess strong relationship-building communication skills.
• Knowledge of product development processes (stage-gate, predictive, agile, and hybrid methods).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with cloud/server services and Wi-Fi modules.
• Knowledge of C/C++ software bridges from product to the cloud.
