The Project Manager / Professional Engineer, Electrical role at TKDA involves managing a portfolio of heavy industrial projects, particularly in the mining sector. The position requires extensive knowledge of electrical design standards and the ability to lead project teams through all phases of project development, from conception to construction. The role also includes market development responsibilities, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance service offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project teams for various heavy industrial projects, including facility design and demolition.
  • Manage all technical, quality, and financial aspects of projects from conception through construction.
  • Collaborate with technical group managers and market managers to develop business plans and maintain client relations.
  • Scope project requirements and lead design efforts, including developing detailed drawings and technical specifications.
  • Mentor and develop less experienced team members in technical design standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology.
  • Professional Engineer with ten or more years of progressive technical design experience, primarily in industrial facility power distribution and control systems.
  • Experience designing systems for mining or heavy industrial facilities.
  • Experience managing multi-discipline projects with service fees exceeding $300,000 per year.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for writing specifications and preparing technical reports.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional registration in multiple states.
  • Experience responding to Requests for Proposals and estimating electrical design fees.
  • Desire to coach and mentor less experienced professionals.
  • Design experience for underground/overhead medium voltage site power distribution systems.
  • Experience with configuration and programming of PLCs, VFDs, and instrumentation.
