About the position

The Project Manager / Professional Engineer, Mechanical role at TKDA involves managing a portfolio of heavy industrial projects, particularly in the mining sector. The position requires extensive knowledge of mechanical design standards and the ability to lead project teams through all phases of project delivery, from conception to construction. The role also includes market development responsibilities, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring technical and financial project success.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project teams for various heavy industrial projects, including facility design and demolition.
  • Manage all technical, quality, and financial aspects of projects from conception through construction.
  • Collaborate with technical group managers and market managers to develop business plans and maintain client relations.
  • Scope project requirements and lead design efforts, including verifying calculations and validating equipment sizing.
  • Develop detailed drawings and draft technical specifications and reports.
  • Mentor and develop less experienced team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Professional Engineer with ten or more years of progressive technical design experience.
  • Experience in designing industrial ventilation and dust collection systems, HVAC, and/or pumping and process piping systems.
  • Prior experience managing multi-discipline projects with service fees exceeding $300,000 per year.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional registration in multiple states.
  • Experience responding to Requests for Proposals and estimating mechanical design fees.
  • Desire to coach and mentor less experienced professionals.
  • Experience with boiler and/or chiller system design.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or Plant 3D.
