About the position

The Project Manager / Professional Mechanical Engineer will lead multi-discipline engineering projects primarily in the heavy industrial sector, focusing on mining operations. This role involves managing all technical, quality, and financial aspects of projects from conception through construction, while also contributing to market development and mentoring less experienced team members.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project teams for various projects including facility design, demolition, balance of plant, and material handling.
  • Manage all technical, quality, and financial aspects of projects from conception through construction.
  • Collaborate with technical group managers, market managers, and division leadership to develop business plans and maintain client relations.
  • Scope project requirements and lead design efforts, verifying calculations and validating equipment sizing and selection.
  • Develop detailed drawings and draft technical specifications and reports.
  • Mentor and develop less experienced team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Professional Engineer with ten or more years of progressive technical design experience, particularly in industrial ventilation and dust collection systems, HVAC, and/or pumping and process piping systems.
  • Prior experience designing systems for mining or heavy industrial facilities.
  • Experience managing multi-discipline projects with service fees exceeding $300,000 per year.
  • Experience coordinating design standards with other disciplines such as architecture, civil, electrical, and structural.
  • Experience conducting construction administration responsibilities including observation and inspection.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional registration in multiple states.
  • Experience responding to Requests for Proposals, including estimating mechanical design fees.
  • Desire or demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop less experienced professionals.
  • Experience with boiler and/or chiller system design for facilities.
  • Experience with district heating and cooling, lab ventilation, or fire protection.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or Plant 3D.
