About the position

As a Project Manager in the Scrum Agile environment at Fidelity Information Services (FIS), you will be at the forefront of managing and coordinating all aspects of projects and sprints from initiation through delivery. This role is pivotal in ensuring that projects are executed efficiently and effectively, aligning with the company's goals and client needs. You will be responsible for the entire project lifecycle, which includes planning, executing, and closing projects while managing the project team and stakeholders. Your expertise in defect management will be crucial, as you will own the defect management process, ensuring timely resolution and reporting of issues that arise during the project lifecycle. In this position, you will manage project initiation activities, which involve understanding and managing contractual obligations, client needs, and existing situations. You will develop, define, and execute comprehensive project plans, activities, schedules, budgets, and deliverables. This includes managing project artifacts, adhering to established practices and patterns, and handling change requests as they arise. You will also be expected to manage sprint details, assigned tasks, and progress using Jira, a key tool in Agile project management. A significant part of your role will involve removing impediments that may hinder the team's progress. You will guide the team in identifying and resolving these impediments by connecting them with the right personnel or resources. Your ability to foster a collaborative and open environment will be essential in driving the team's success and ensuring that project goals are met.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and coordinates all aspects of projects/sprints from initiation through delivery.
  • Owner of defect management process, resolution, and reporting.
  • Manages project initiation activities including managing related contractual obligations, client needs and goals, existing situation, necessary contacts and access to existing information as needed.
  • Develops, defines and executes project plans, activities, schedules, budgets and deliverables.
  • Manages artifacts, adherence to practices and patterns, change requests, etc.
  • Expected to manage sprint details, assigned tasks, and progress via Jira.
  • Removes impediments or guides the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment.

Requirements

  • 8 - 20 years of work experience in information technology, with at least 6 years as Project Manager.
  • Extensive knowledge of project management standards, processes, procedures and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of industry project management best practices, i.e., Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).
  • Knowledge of various types of IT project methodologies and life cycles, e.g., conversions, incremental, rapid delivery, classic or traditional waterfall phases of analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and the correct project application.
  • Knowledge of standards relevant to the software industry, e.g., ISO, CMM, Six Sigma.
  • Knowledge of financial services industry, company's products and services.
