About the position

Palmetto Clean Technology is seeking a dedicated Project Manager for its Stranded Assets initiative, based in either the Charlotte, NC or Charleston, SC office. This role is pivotal in assisting Palmetto Finance to take over projects from Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partners that are unable to fulfill their commitments due to various reasons such as bankruptcy or offboarding. The Project Manager will be responsible for driving incomplete LightReach projects from Notice to Proceed (NTP) to System Activation, with a primary goal of salvaging as many projects as possible through innovative problem-solving and collaboration with Palmetto Energy and other active LightReach EPC partners. The Project Manager will leverage expertise across multiple domains including engineering, utility management, permitting, installation, and inspection to achieve project objectives. This role will also involve direct communication with escalated customers to restore their confidence in their solar projects. In addition to managing projects, the Project Manager will support milestone quality reviews as needed, ensuring that all project documentation is thorough and organized to facilitate transparent communication and knowledge transfer. Success in this role is defined by the ability to convert 90% of pre-PTO project pipelines to PTO, with each portfolio of projects having clearly set timeline expectations. The Project Manager will be expected to review incomplete project information, establish recovery plans, partner with trusted EPCs to facilitate project actions, and oversee project execution from NTP to System Activation. Regular communication with stakeholders, delivering updates on project progress, and addressing concerns will be essential to ensure alignment with overall project goals.

Responsibilities

  • Drive incomplete LightReach projects from NTP to System Activation.
  • Establish recovery plans for incomplete project information.
  • Partner with trusted EPCs to facilitate project actions and submittals.
  • Oversee and manage projects from NTP to System Activation.
  • Communicate with stakeholders, delivering regular updates on project progress and milestones.
  • Collaborate with Design & Engineering, Permitting, Utility, QA, and Inspections teams as needed.
  • Resolve escalated customer issues directly or indirectly.
  • Document project specifications, progress, and key milestones thoroughly.
  • Review project milestone deliverables for quality and completeness.
  • Provide clear reasoning for rejected packages.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related fields.
  • PMP or PMI certifications preferred.
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated experience managing solar projects to completion.
  • Experience with interdepartmental problem solving and proven ability to implement solutions.
  • Knowledge of solar regulatory requirements and compliance issues.
  • Experience in photovoltaic design preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Experience with standard business tools such as G-Suite and CRMs.

Nice-to-haves
