WSP is currently initiating a search for a Project Manager, Structural Engineer for our Boston, MA office. This role involves being a key player in projects with our Structures Transportation Team, primarily supporting our Massachusetts clients. As a Project Manager and Design Lead for bridge-centric projects, you will provide subject matter technical support and leadership for infrastructure projects in the public sector. Your responsibilities will encompass project management, design, concept development, planning, and construction of bridges, retaining walls, and other transportation structures. You will also provide situational guidance to other project managers and managers, addressing current and future challenges while ensuring that documentation and recommendations accurately account for and address risk, innovation, and future-ready opportunities. In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring that all project responsibilities are delivered with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, structural soundness, and functionality. You will perform professional structural engineering work, including bridge design and load ratings, and develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates. Your role will also involve preparing construction safety and phasing plans and updating infrastructure layout plans that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients. You will be involved from project inception to completion in managing the design of transportation infrastructure projects, leading larger-scale bridge and structural engineering projects, and ensuring that contributors are aware of their responsibilities and deadlines. Additionally, you will prepare and oversee relevant project budgets, monitor external events, track hours and expenses, ensure satisfactory performance, and supervise subcontractors, contract work, and employees. You will assist with quality control engineering reviews of design plans and specifications, conduct constructability reviews, and ensure compliance with applicable state and/or federal regulations and sound engineering practices and standards. Meeting with various public entities or individuals to discuss issues related to engineering and construction challenges will also be part of your responsibilities. You will develop a client base for providing high-level structural engineering services and identify additional business development opportunities. Mentoring staff to support their growth and professional development will be essential, as will remaining current in the latest structural engineering techniques and practices. Collaboration with professionals from various disciplines, other engineers, and infrastructure authorities on federally, state, regionally, locally, and privately funded improvement and development projects will be a key aspect of your role. You will exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, adhering to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Additional responsibilities may be required based on business needs.
