About the position

This individual provides daily oversight and supervision to the regional Project Management Organization. Reporting to the National Manager of the Power Delivery Project Management Organization and working in conjunction with the Power Delivery Regional Operations Manager and National Practice Leads to provide successful results on the portfolio of regional projects. Provide leadership and mentoring to a regional team of Project Managers and Project Coordinators.

Responsibilities

  • Act as project manager on assigned projects leading a project team in successful execution of the project.
  • Able to fulfill all essential functions of a Senior Project Manager.
  • Work with the National Manager and other regional supervisors in the development, implementation and enforcement of project management process and procedure.
  • Review client project requests for proposals and assign appropriate project management resources.
  • Develop and review project estimates, execution plans, monthly reports and schedules for successful project proposals and project execution.
  • Routine review of project portfolio status and health through the use of screening tools and reporting.
  • Provide constructive feedback to project management team.
  • Checking completed projects for proper closeout and completion.
  • Perform complex project cost analyses and monitor results for focused process improvement.
  • Promote efficient flow of information and ensure complete and accurate record keeping.
  • Be familiar with the company's corporate accounting, project cycle and reporting standards and participate in process and procedure development.
  • Shall keep informed of current developments in the area of project management.
  • Assist in the professional development, training, and evaluation of assigned personnel.
  • Deliver clear and concise communications to the project management team.
  • Provide quality customer service at all times.
  • Perform other department duties as required.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor degree in Engineering, Business or Construction Management from an accredited school or University is required.
  • Ten years related project management experience with specific experience with complex utility project management including engineer/procure/construct (EPC) projects.
  • Prior experience as a Project Manager Supervisor is preferred.
  • Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) is preferred.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of utility substation and transmission engineering and construction work flow.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals and application of project scheduling.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of utility project work breakdown structure.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of commercial contract documents and subcontractor management.
  • Demonstrate a proficiency in compelling efficiency in project management and execution to maximize project value and profit.
  • Be familiar with major substation and transmission companies and their operations.
  • Must have good PC skills and experience with Adobe and Microsoft programs.
  • Work well as a leader of both project management and engineering personnel.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, overtime holidays as needs dictate.
  • Must be available for out-of-town travel.
  • U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent resident status required.
  • Valid driver's license issued by state of residence and in good standing is required.
