About the position

Hatch is seeking a highly motivated Project Manager with Transit experience to join their North American Infrastructure group in Seattle, WA. The role involves managing projects related to rail vehicle engineering, ensuring effective utilization of staff, maintaining communication with clients, and overseeing project completion within schedules and budgets. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing new business opportunities and preparing technical and cost proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the effective utilization of professional/technical staff on assigned projects
  • Perform technical and contract-related analysis, cost estimating, coordinating and monitoring project assignments
  • Review and manage projects to ensure completion of work within schedules and budgets
  • Maintain communication with clients regarding the project; forecasting staffing requirements and assisting in development of employee skill requirements
  • Prepare scope of work, monitoring work progress and budgeting throughout assignment; provide analysis of change orders
  • Coordinate the interaction of all subject matter experts, supporting staff and subcontractors
  • Monitor financial performance of projects and make recommendations for corrective actions
  • Develop new business opportunities
  • Work with Business Development Staff to prepare successful technical and cost proposals
  • Participate in Client interviews

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University
  • 7 - 10 years of progressive rail vehicle engineering and project management experience
  • Diverse technical and contract skills
  • Solid understanding of Train Control
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Broad-based rail vehicle engineering knowledge
  • Ability to manage, direct and supervise the work efforts of a professional and technical staff
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to travel when required
