About the position
The Project Manager for Transportation Hydraulic Design at HNTB Corporation is responsible for managing assigned projects throughout their full lifecycle. This includes developing project scopes, overseeing technical sections of proposals, participating in contract negotiations, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality work on time and within budget. The role involves managing project teams, coordinating with internal and external partners, and delivering reports, plans, specifications, and designs for water resource aspects of transportation projects.
Responsibilities
- Manage assigned projects throughout their full lifecycle.
- Develop project scope and fee quotations.
- Assist in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts.
- Serve as the primary client liaison and manage project teams.
- Perform technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, and specifications.
- Implement the firm's project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach.
- Lead the development and execution of the project management plan.
- Supervise and mentor project team members.
- Coordinate with managers on project staffing and performance reviews.
- Assist with business development and client relationship building.
- Prepare proposal and presentation materials for strategic projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 8 years of relevant experience.
- 2 years of task management or Deputy PM experience.
- Excellent technical knowledge in multidisciplinary projects.
- Experience in delivering projects on-time, on-budget, and with client satisfaction.
Nice-to-haves
- Local municipal and/or Michigan DOT experience and relationships.
- Master's degree in Engineering.
- 10 years of relevant experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License in Michigan or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Experience using MicroStation and Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
- Experience using HY-8, HEC-RAS, and HEC-HMS.
