About the position

The Project Manager - Water at Mott MacDonald is responsible for overseeing multiple water supply projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. This role involves technical and administrative management, client relationship maintenance, and business development. The position requires a strong background in water engineering and project management, with a focus on sustainability and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative and technical management over multiple water resources, water supply, or water treatment projects.
  • Establishes and periodically reviews time-and-hour budgets, ensuring projects meet these budgets.
  • Reviews project schedules and progress periodically.
  • Outlines complex problems and methods of approach for other engineers.
  • Supervises or coordinates several varied assignments simultaneously.
  • Identifies potential business development opportunities with existing clients and leads the proposal process.
  • Maintains relationships with clients post-project to secure future work.
  • Conducts non-routine and complex assignments involving planning and conducting projects of limited scope or portions of larger projects.
  • Applies diversified knowledge of engineering/scientific principles in broad areas of assignment and related fields.
  • Calculates costs and determines project feasibility based on data analysis.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 5-10 years' experience in water engineering.
  • Experience in both design and management of water-related projects.
  • Mentoring experience with less experienced engineers.
  • PE or ability to obtain within one year in the state of NJ required.
  • Self-starter with the ability to lead and manage people and projects.
  • Commercial approach to delivering projects.
  • Skilled in technical and proposal writing.
  • Designated Design-Build Professional (DBIA), Associated DBIA certifications, or Design-Build experience are a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with sustainability practices in engineering projects.
  • Familiarity with digital innovation in project management.
