About the position

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing construction projects to ensure they are completed according to specifications, on schedule, and within budget. This role involves planning, coordinating, and managing all aspects of the project, including personnel, equipment, and materials, while adhering to company policies and procedures. The Project Manager serves as the primary representative of the company on-site, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among all stakeholders to achieve client satisfaction and project success.

Responsibilities

  • Make a thorough study of the project and discuss plans with Division Personnel and Management team.
  • Assess needs including personnel, equipment, materials, and time frame for performance.
  • Plan and manage field office site, trailers, permits, utilities, employee parking, temporary roads, lay down areas, tool cribs, insurance, and safety measures.
  • Attend all progress meetings with the Owner/Engineer and ensure timely submission of required documents.
  • Conduct internal scheduling meetings with Superintendents, Foremen, and Subcontractors.
  • Coordinate staffing needs with the Human Resources Department and supervise project engineering staff.
  • Familiarize with contract documents, specifications, and payment requirements.
  • Review and approve invoices, subcontractor payments, and timesheets.
  • Manage project budget and discuss variances with the Estimator.
  • Negotiate with subcontractors and vendors, ensuring timely payments and managing claims and disputes.
  • Ensure proper documentation is maintained by all project team members and keep a detailed daily diary of the project.
  • Conduct public relations and negotiations with integrity and professionalism.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and communicate with the Safety Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Minimum five years' experience in the heavy construction industry.
  • Experience with bridge, roadwork, and DOT projects.
  • PMP Certification preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods in the heavy construction industry.
  • Demonstrated team leadership and project management skills.
  • Ability to direct subcontractors to achieve project goals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and project scheduling software (P-3 at minimum).
  • Ability to maintain onsite project documentation and coordinate site work.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
