The purpose of this position is to plan, direct, control, coordinate manpower and equipment, and assets under their supervision to complete projects assigned to them and meet targeted goals for profitability. The role involves managing the use of project control tools to report daily progress status, compiling information for project status reports to track and communicate progress of work for projects as assigned. Additionally, the position includes project accounting functions such as managing the budget, tracking expenses, and minimizing risk on the project, ensuring that construction activities move according to a pre-determined schedule, and managing subcontractors and suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, control, and coordinate manpower and equipment for project completion.
  • Manage project control tools to report daily progress status.
  • Compile information for project status reports to track and communicate progress.
  • Manage project accounting functions including budget management and expense tracking.
  • Ensure construction activities adhere to the pre-determined schedule.
  • Manage subcontractors and suppliers effectively.
  • Review contracts and specifications thoroughly.
  • Verify accuracy of daily reports using Heavy Job.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and workforce to resolve project challenges.
  • Assist with monthly billing, cash flow projections, and change order processing.
  • Set up project documentation systems and cost controls.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors responsible for various project phases.
  • Prepare or review daily, weekly, and monthly project reports.
  • Work closely with the project's Superintendent to schedule and manage resources.
  • Monitor progress of construction activities and hold regular status meetings.
  • Oversee and mentor direct reports from Project Engineers and Superintendents.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Project Manager in Heavy/Civil Construction.
  • A college degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all project documents (i.e. Construction drawings, specs, submittals, RFI's, contracts, etc.).
  • Experience in HCSS is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver a successful completed project.
  • Proficient in communication skills - written & oral.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office/ Microsoft Projects.
  • Strong analysis and critical thinking skills.
  • Deadline and detail-oriented.
