About the position

The Project Manager 1 (PM 1) role at Ascent Aerospace is an entry-level position responsible for supporting a portfolio of Tooling and Equipment projects essential for building aircraft, including airplanes, helicopters, and rockets. The PM 1 will manage the design, build, and installation of tooling and equipment, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget while maintaining effective communication with stakeholders and managing project risks.

Responsibilities

• Manage performance, cost, schedule, and customer satisfaction of assigned projects throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with internal teams to address customer requests for schedule improvements or technical changes.
• Maintain an Integrated Master Schedule using MS Project.
• Cultivate and nurture both external and internal customer relationships.
• Support the Sr. Project Manager in establishing trust and confidence with customers through effective communication.
• Track, manage, and transparently communicate risks and opportunities within projects to improve profitability.
• Conduct variance analysis on assigned projects with support from the Finance team.
• Understand customer requirements and support changes in project scope by preparing change requests and capturing cost and schedule impacts.
• Assist senior project managers in coordinating and monitoring project activities.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budget, and risk management plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing Technology, Electro-mechanical), Construction Management, or Business with a concentration in Project Management.
• 1 - 3 years of experience in project management, scheduling, or Manufacturing Engineering role.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex issues.
• Ability to read blueprints/CAD models and a basic understanding of GD&T principles.
• Ability to understand a P&L statement and principles of cash management applied to a project.
• Strong Excel spreadsheet skills for analysis.
• Ability to negotiate disputes while maintaining positive relationships.
• Proficient with Microsoft Project and other Microsoft Office platforms (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in managing internal projects from a Manufacturing Engineering role.
• Active security clearance is preferred.
