About the position

The Project Manager at Chief Construction is responsible for ensuring that construction projects are planned, coordinated, and completed efficiently and profitably. This role involves overseeing all aspects of projects, from proposal creation to project close-out, while maintaining effective communication with various departments and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Marketing & Estimating team to create proposals, RFP's, budgets, and estimates for projects.
  • Negotiate contracts with prospective clients.
  • Ensure compliance with established procedures and policies regarding safety and asset protection.
  • Promote and protect the reputation of Chief Industries within the community.
  • Maintain communication with all departments to stay informed about ongoing work.
  • Attend project meetings and coordinate project requirements with the project coordinator and superintendent.
  • Procure materials, equipment, and subcontracts competitively.
  • Review bids to ensure project buy-out is at or below original estimates.
  • Generate subcontracts and purchase orders for required materials.
  • Coordinate with the Project Superintendent on all RFI's and ensure proper entry in Procore or submittal exchange software.
  • Review the RFI log to resolve open items promptly.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proposed projects and costs.
  • Approve subcontractor and supplier invoices before project billing cut-off, verifying amounts and cost-codes.
  • Monitor and maintain the project schedule in collaboration with the project superintendent and subcontractors.
  • Process Change Orders for all approved Change Requests and ensure execution before proceeding.
  • Adjust projections and schedules as necessary in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all subcontractor change orders are executed before approving pay applications.
  • Monitor daily cost issues and adjust projections to reflect true final project costs.
  • Assist in determining contingency amounts at project closings.
  • Maintain a good relationship with customers during construction and ensure their satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with the Project Superintendent, Project Coordinator, Accounting department, and division management to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Manage the complete Project folder within Procore.
  • Assist in preparing close-out documentation and ensure timely completion of the punch list.
  • Follow up on all leads professionally within 24 hours.
  • Communicate ideas for improving company processes positively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management.
  • Possess OSHA 10-hour certificate.
  • Successfully pass drug and alcohol testing.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
